Helloooo, I'm Shay, your friendly neighbourhood bassist.
My family are definitely not musically gifted whatsoever, so where I got my passion for music and the arts is honestly a mystery.
Since I could walk, I knew that I wanted to do something within the arts, I just didn't know what. I tried ballet and dance from 2-6 years old, musical theatre from 6-18, and I've been learning piano since the age of 7. It wasn't until about 5 years ago that I actually started getting into metal music, and its only been 3 since I picked up a bass guitar for the first time.
I think the artists that actually got me into metal music was Bring Me the Horizon and the Nova Twins with their track '1x1'. I was going down a rabbit hole deep dive one day, and I listened to the song and absolutely loved it. I honestly just think Georgia South is so cool, and she's a massive inspiration to me. Another band I'm obsessed with is Ice Nine Kills. As a massive horror nerd, it all just clicks into place. And the bass lines from Joe Occhiuti are so *chefs kiss*.
Joining AZALEAS is probably one of the best things that could've ever happened to me. I've found my people, people that are just as passionate about music as I am, if not more. We all put our hearts and souls into the music, and I hope anyone who listens to our songs can feel it. Music helped save my life, and my biggest goal is for people to feel that kind of connection to ours.
